Young men and women are able to serve in our nation's military and be put in harms way, but are unable to have a beer in their own country. Additionally, 18 year old adults have the ability to vote on their nation's leaders and sign legal contracts which is a sign of maturity. The current federal imposed drinking age of 21 has been unsuccessful in stopping those under age from drinking, and has only caused a mystique that encourages out of control "binge" drinking. Lowering the federal age to 18 would better align with other rights as an adult, as well as promote responsible drinking as a part of adulthood.
