Teens all over the country believe that the drinking age should be lowered back to what it was in the 1980's. Although raising the age did decrease the number of traffic accidents, its overall goal, stricter D.U.I. and seatbelt laws have helped as well. With the legal age becoming 19, the risk of younger kids gaining access is not as high as 18 since high school seniors still will not be legal until they are in college. Since 18 year olds have the right to marry, buy guns, elect who leads our country, and serve to protect it, doesn't it make sense to allow only a one year gap for them to be allowed to drink?
