Lower the Legal Drinking Age back to 18

Created by W.R. on September 22, 2012

The current United States legal drinking age is 21. The U.S. is the only developed country with this drinking age. In most other developed countries, the drinking age is 18 or even lower in some cases. 18 year old Americans can vote, join the army, get married and be called for jury duty. An 18 year old in America is believed by the government to be able to have these priveleges and responsibilities, but cannot legally drink. The 21 drinking age has also driven drinking underground for 18-20 year olds, rather than discouraging it.
