We propose amending the current laws that cover Medicare to be simply amended to reduce the eligibility age to 0.
This simple amendment to our existing policy will allow all Americans to be afforded a basic level of healthcare. It's been shown in study after study that the United States spends more per person on healthcare than any industrialized country in the world, double that of those who have far better health outcomes than we do.
Medicare has an overhead of 2% on the high end, meaning that 98% of the dollars we spend on it are being spent on the people, whereas private insurance companies, because of their very nature, are required to provide a return to their shareholders, now capped at 20%.
Let's do the right thing and make healthcare a right, not a privilege!
