Lower the minimum drinking age to 16, like Germany and other European countries

Created by W.L. on August 11, 2015

Our current minimum drinking age is 21. In the United States, there is a lot of underage drinking, especially in colleges/universities. The United States thinks making the drinking age 21 will help battle alcoholism, but it actually makes it worse because they are forced to wait a long time to drink, so when they turn 21... They will drink all the alcohol which makes them become intoxicated. High school students in the US start to drink at parties at the age of 16. In Germany, they start to drink wine and beer at the age of 14. This teaches them how to drink responsibly. We should make the drinking age for beer and wine at 16 and distilled liquor at the age of 18.

By signing this petition, you are agreeing that the US should should change the minimum drinking age to 16 and 18
