In this country, we seem to be confused by the phrase "coming of age." Why is there a waiting period of only three years after being legally considered an adult to start drinking? Instead of telling young adults what they can and can not do, we should do a better job of educating them to do things responsibly. Make no mistake; young people today are drinking. It won't change. The best thing to do is to be proactive in the education department so that they do so responsibly. It's more dangerous for the teens that they must sneak off to rural areas where help is not as readily available so as to avoid being caught. It would be far safer to allow them to drink without having to hide.
