Lower the Minimum Legal Drinking Age to 18

The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 mandated that states with a minimum drinking age below 21 years would be subjected to a ten percent decrease in its annual federal highway apportionment. This law has since turned countless college students and 18, 19, and 20 year olds into small time criminals, thus wasting police resources and infringing on the rights of adults who are able to vote for elected officials, serve in our armed forces, and buy and/or take part in pornography, but cannot have a beer after work. If we want to combat alcoholism among young people, the money should be spent trying to police draconian liquor laws should be spent educating about safe alcohol consumption and the dangers of drunk driving, not making otherwise law-abiding adults into criminals.
