At first, the minimum was 5,000 signatures. The site blew up with activity, and all kinds of petitions got 5,000 signatures; the minimum was raised to 25,000 to keep it manageable.
That's okay. This is a totally new idea; it's going to need tweaking. We get that.
But 25,000 is too much. As of Oct. 12, only 4 petitions have 25,000 signatures--and no new ones have gotten that many since the minimum was raised. In fact, it seems petitions aren't growing as fast since then, because people have less hope of petitions succeeding.
So, split the difference at 15,000. Right now, there are 9 petitions with 15,000 signatures, with a few more on track to get that many. That seems like a fair compromise between keeping We The People manageable for you, and keeping it useful for us.
