Lower the national drinking age to 18

Created by J.C. on December 29, 2012

Since the passage of the NMDAA in 1984, the legal drinking age in the United States has been 21. College presidents across the country are asking for the age to once again be lowered to 18. The argument of these administrators is that the higher drinking age has merely pushed college drinking underground, into unsafe and unsupervised environments and has increased the amount of "binge" drinking. Lowering the drinking age to 18 would bring young adults back into supervised atmospheres and help control the amount of alcohol consumed. If 18 year olds can vote, serve in a jury, and die for their country, shouldn't they be allowed to have a beer?
