Lower the national drinking age to 18.

Created by A.D. on February 10, 2014

The drinking age should be lowered to 18 years nation-wide while in the company of a parent or guardian. As the current age of 21 stands, young adults under the legal age see alcohol as an enticing "forbidden fruit," and often use alcoholic beverages as a way to rebel against authority and often times go overboard and become dangerously intoxicated, sometimes leading to being in trouble with the law, developing health issues and even death. Lowering the age to 18 will allow for our youths to be eased into alcohol with the supervision of their parent/guardian, thus educating them on their limits and the effects of alcohol in a safe environment. This petition does not lower the age to purchase alcohol from 21 to 18.
