Lower the national drinking age to 18 years old

Created by R.L. on February 20, 2015

The national drinking age of 21 is simply too high. At age 18 you can marry, vote, buy a firearm, and serve in our military. Most countries have a legal drinking age of 18, sometimes lower. These countries do not experience the same amount of alcohol abuse by minors that our nation does. Having such a high drinking age does not prevent those who are not 21 from consuming alcohol, but rather lead them to drink in environments that are simply not safe. We petition the Obama administration to lower the drinking age to 18 years old and give legal adult Americans their right to drink alcoholic beverages.
