Lower our property taxes, without increasing or adding taxes/fees in other categories.

Created by D.K. on October 26, 2011

The federal government has stopped many funding efforts to the states and local governments. Those government entities used the property tax system to make up for those cuts instead of reducing the expenses they incur. Many U.S. citizens are now being taxed right out of being able to afford to keep their homes and land. I.E. since 2007 my property taxes raised 80% on one parcel. The value of my home increased on my property tax statement to over 350,000 (it cost me 52,000 to build it in 1993), other homes in the area, at a comparable worth, have no market, were foreclosed on, or are not selling. In past years I was told they use a comparable worth system to calculate the value for property tax purposes. If nothing is selling in my area the value should be decreasing not increasing.
