The rate that individuals pay out of their income is very painful especially for those on the lower end. The rate is
12.4 percent coming from both the employee and the employer on all income below $113.700.00. This rate could be lowered a small amount and would give great relief to those having to pay it. After $113,700.00, it is just like getting a 12.4 percent raise. The ceiling should be raised to whatever is necessary to sustain Medicare in perpetuity.
