The minimum number of signatures on a petition like this to illicit a response from the White House previously was 25,000. It was raised to 100,000. I believe that this is wrong. The right to petition our government is not based in numbers. Any one American citizen should be able to get a response from their President, should they announce a grievance. It is unreasonable, however, to expect the President to answer all such requests. It is also unreasonable to require 100,000 signatures before releasing a statement. Raising the minimum from 25,000 to 100,000 is saying that 25,000 Americans' opinion is not important. It is wrong to ignore the public. But maybe this is just my opinion, in which case the White House will never respond to it. Thank you.
