Lower the salaries of senators and representatives in congress.

The base salary for a senator is $174,000. The average salary for any person, 25 and older, is $32,140. If every congressman had their pay cut to $50,000 (nearly $18,000 more than the average American), the government could save, at least, $65,596,000 per year, which could be redistributed to places where it is truly needed - such as education, healthcare, etc. In only 5 years, the United States government will have saved over $300,000,000.
Not only will this pay cut save our country hundreds of millions of dollars, but it also has the potential to weed out any "greedy" congressmen who are in their line of work for the wrong reasons, and by doing so it could open up opportunities for politicians who will do right by the citizens of America.
