Lower the salary of POTUS and VPOTUS to the national average, and lower congresses salary to the average of their state

Every politician will tell you that the federal budget needs to be cut, but they can never agree on where to start. I have a simple solution that is completely non- partisan. Start at the top. the President and vice president's pay should be cut to the national average (if not lower) and congressmen and senator's salary should be no higher than the average of the state they represent. why? these started out as extremely low paying jobs, and they should be that way. people who want to represent us should do it to serve, not for the power and money. our elected officials benefit from millions of dollars of perks each year that make any salary at all unnecessary, and that has to change. lets start with cutting them back to a wage that is closer to what we the people earn
