Ever since this site quadrupled the signature requirement, even less responses have been made by the Obama administration on issues that are important and relevant to today's electorate. The limit was raised after several news articles sensationalized some petitions on the site, like the one for the building of a death star. The site had large amount of people create a profile and sign a few petitions and then largely forget about the site as the media moved on. There are many issues that are now largely ignored because of the limit change which went a bit far. I think 50,000 would be a good compromise that would keep pointless petitions off and relevant ones on the table.
