Lower the signatures on a petition needed for a response to 50,000

Created by T.J. on March 29, 2013

We petition We The People to lower the number of signatures required for a response to a petition to 50,000 rather than 100,000.

I understand why the signature requirements were raised from 25,000, as that low a limit allows too many stupid joke petitions to go through. But raising it as high as it is now also lets a lot of petitions for worthy causes fall by the wayside.

And it is unjust and unfair that we, the people he is supposed to serve, are accorded a far higher barrier to the president's ear than the thousands of corrupt lobbyists that have turned our democracy into a plutocracy.

So, let us make a compromise ad meet in the middle with 50,000 signatures required. In the name of free speech, I implore you, please, do not let this wall between politicians and the people stand!
