We understand MTA is in debt. For whatever reason, MTA is running out of resources to maintain their system. However, there is fine line to how much you can raise the cost of one swipe. It's not just a quarter. A quarter can add up to one Big Mac. One Big Mac can add up to food, electricity, rent, and school supplies for our children. We live in NY where the rent for a tiny room is at least a two thousand dollars. We need the money to survive just as much as you the MTA does, possibly even more. Single ride is already 3 dollars. At what point will they stop, when the MTA figures it's easier to charge the everyone 15 dollars a swipe? The MTA cannot push their responsibilities onto New Yorkers because they cannot manage their money wisely.
