When is an American truly an adult. This question is asked by many. Whether it be anti smoking advocates, American policy experts etc. I for one believe that if a person is old enough to serve their country and take a bullet for their nation, that person should have the right to order a beer. Since the nationwide drinking age was changed to 21 in 1984, drinking has gone underground and there has been infact MORE underage drinking, because the concept of "underage" has been redefined. In foreign countries such as Germany, a person can legally consume alcohol at ages even younger than 18, yet these nations have noticeably less alcoholism than America(one of the worlds only countries with a drinking age as high as 21)
