The United States is among 12 nations with a minimum purchase and public possession age above 18 years. Over 100 nations have either incorporated or lowered their minimum age to 18 years, when a citizen is considered an adult. An 18 year old has the right to vote and serve in the military. If he can choose the nation's leaders and be shot at for his country, he or she should be able to responsibly enjoy alcohol. There are many alcohol related deaths seen in teens because it is seen as a "forbidden fruit" and they drink more at one time as they do not know when it will happen again. Lowering the drinking age will make more people responsible drinkers and lower the curiosity that 18-20 year olds have for drinking alcohol.
