16 year olds are citizens interested in their government who should vote.
Teenagers have the liberty to drive, even though the highest rate of fatal car accidents are between the ages of 16-25. Many teens also work and thus, pay taxes. It is unjust that these teens invest into the federal government but are denied any right to influence the policies that govern them.
It seems counterintuitive: Young adults don't vote; however, advocates say 18 is the worst time to start voting due to stress factors: moving away to college, getting a job, and even joining the armed forces. Studies show voting should start earlier. If people don't start out as voters, they're less likely to ever vote. Researches fear a steep dive in voter turnout as baby boomers, the most active voting group, die out.
