Our country was built upon the principle that all men are created equal. As we may all think this is true and that we have reached the zenith of equality I have to inform you this is erroneous. It is my duty as a congressman to this country to help form a more perfect union and to do so I feel that our youth, the ones most relying on the future of our country, must receive the right to vote.
Isn’t it unfair that in this country, an individual under the age of 16 can go to war, work, pay taxes, and in extreme circumstances, be sentenced to death, but they can’t even vote? What we need to do as a congress, is lower the voting age to 16. Minors care about our country just as much as people who can vote do, and they deserve the right to vote.
