Lower the Voting Age to 17 Years Old

Created by M.C. on February 07, 2013

There are many reasons why the voting age in the United States should be lowered to 17 years old, but listed below are a few of them:

1. At age 17, you are allowed to join the military and fight on the front lines against America's enemies. I believe that you should also be able to choose America's leaders.

2. A study conducted by Daniel Hart and Robert Atkins of Rutgers University found that 17 year olds were intellectually capable of voting. Study: http://goo.gl/7m79C

3. There would be higher voter turnout if the voting age was lowered to 17 because of the new age group who can now legally vote for their elected officials. This would also logically lead to a better representation of the younger demographic in our country.

Based on the facts listed here, this is an easy decision!
