Though the minimum age to vote is currently 18, it should be lowered to allow working minors to vote. A child is able to start working, with a permit, around 16 years of age in most states. If a person is paying taxes to the government, then that person should be able to choose who controls that money. Though the working child is still a minor, if they can show proof of knowledgeable understanding of the issue they are voting on, they should be able to have a say in the issue. People who are paying for the government to function should have a say in how the government uses the money and who is able to control that money.
