Just like all other Americans, Youth pay taxes. Youth pay an estimated $9.7 Billion dollars in sales taxes alone. Youth pay billions in taxes to state, local, and federal governments yet they have absolutely no say over how much is taken. This is taxation without representation. This is exactly why we fought the British over 237 years ago.
Youth are also affected by every other law that Americans live under. Every action or inaction taken by lawmakers affects youth directly, yet they have no say.
The argument that youth should not vote because they lack the ability to make informed and intelligent decisions is invalid because most of us are more intelligent than adults.
We are the future of the country and deserve to make the decisions for it. Lower the voting age.
