Maintain diplomatic relations with the Vatican (the Holy See) and keep the current U. S. embassy within Vatican City.

Created by E.B. on November 26, 2013

According to news sources, the U. S. plans to move the current U. S. Embassy to the Holy See out of the Vatican and co-locate it with the Embassy to Italy. This severely downgrades the current relationship we enjoy with the Vatican City-State and reduces our intelligence gathering and influence in the world. At a time when the Vatican has demonstrated its ability to be influential in international affairs, and the growing popularity of Pope Francis, this move may negatively influence not only peacekeeping measures throughout the world, but also religious freedom in the United States, and the ability of the United States to accomplish its agendas.
