Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is the institution responsible for the IP numbering network and domain name system (DNS) to the global community.
Turning this responsibility to an unelected international group that can easily be manipulated by undemocratic governments presents a clear threat to the freedom of the internet and the economies that it creates.
At any point in time if the new institution becomes corrupted, access and use of the internet could become disrupted or eliminated. This would disrupt commerce as well as the free flow of ideas throughout the world.
