On the 13th of July in the year 2013, two extraordinary US citizens made history by going on a first date. This commonplace event may seem insignificant to most, but at least to the people involved, it was a night never to forget. With his bow tie tied and her high heels strapped, they spent the evening turning heads, fine dining, catching a play, walking on the beach, listening to music, dancing by the sea, holding hands, talking about everything and anything, and most of all, smiling. Therefore, I petition the US government to make July 13th National First Date Day to celebrate young couples, new beginnings, and happiness.
