Make 9/11 a National Day of Remembrance and Memorial

Created by J.E. on September 11, 2014

I feel that the respect given to 9/11 is less and less each year. In a few years, it will become like Pearl Harbor, a national tragedy that while historically significant, is no longer a day marked by memorials around the country. I don't want 9/11 to become like this so I think that President Obama should make 9/11 a day of national mourning. Schools should be required to spend the day discussing and studying 9/11 and the events before and after. All jobs except those which are necessary (police, firefighters, ambulance, etc.) should be closed for the day. It should be a day of mourning so that we don't forget the attack and the people who perished from it. All of America should spend the whole day mourning or else 9/11 will get lost in the pages of history like Pearl Harbor was.
