Access to food is something that should not be what you work your second job to be able to pay for. With our knowledge of technology and agriculture there should be no excuse for starvation.
Many people complain that the welfare system is broken and causes reliance on the government, and produces a burden on the tax payers. Whether you agree on what the system does or not, the fact is that many, many people are on welfare and receive food stamps and myriad more are simply starving on the street.
I propose:
1. Education of the public on community gardening techniques and easy access to starting materials (especially hydroponics equipment)
2. Larger scale urban gardens run by the city
3. National restructuring of the agriculture business
4. Research into healthy, safe GMO foods
