Many studies have proven the negative affects alcohol has on the human body and mind. Alcohol is linked to birth defects, cancer, mental disorders, and crime rates. If other mind altering substances are strictly prohibited by federal law, then why not alcohol? No matter the regulations put on the substance, it is still falling into the hands of minors. Alcohol is highly addictive and is the most abused substance in this nation. Alcohol abuse has led to an increase in the suicide rate, the divorce rate, spousal and child abuse. Alcohol use should be prohibited, there are many safer alternatives, such as marijuana.
