The Ali Act (enacted in 2000) in it's current state, is toothless and difficult to enforce. Without state athletic commissions and boxing commissions to help enforce these laws, it hasn't lived up to needs of boxers and their families. The world of boxing of continues to corrupt and unjust in many respects, with the United States using mere words without any action to stem the tide.
The federal government does not currently have a role in governing over any professional sports, but has a chance to step up and provide a helping hand and capable enforcement that will make one of the lasting sports of our society safer and well-balanced.
