Elected officials are elected by the people, for the people - according to our founding fathers. I propose ALL elected officials become required to live as the other citizens in the United States of America. We are not guaranteed health insurance. We must pay taxes. We are not guaranteed retirement. We pay for our own vehicles, gas, groceries and travel. We (or our employer) pay part or all of our health insurance, life insurance and 401(k) contributions. We must repay student loans and credit card bills. We are required to answer to our bosses when we do something wrong. As elected officials, the citizens of the US are the "bosses" and we demand elected officials to be treated and have the same responsibilities as the rest of us.
