In my state, voters in primary elections can only vote along party lines. Ex. a registered Democrat can only vote for Democratic candidates. Registered Republicans can only vote for Republican candidates. Unaffiliated voters can vote for no one.
This goes against the intent of an election. A voter should be able to vote for the candidate s/he thinks will best fill the office, regardless of party.
Despite what Fox or MSNBC may think, there are qualified candidates from all parties. Voters in closed primary states do not have the ability to vote for those candidates if they happen to be in a different party.
This is unfair to the voter, the candidate and the country
