Most areas of the United States and its territories and military bases are vulnerable to extreme heat. Such heat can affect students in America's public schools, especially in schools without air conditioning (of which there are far too many). Students subject to high temperatures while in school are uncomfortable and distracted as a result of the extreme heat.
Hopefully, this is a nonpartisan issue, something that Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike can agree on, since this affects anyone with kids in public schools. We, the undersigned, urge President Obama and the United States government to make air conditioning a necessity in America's public schools.
