Fake and inaccurate news organizations are running rampant online in the pursuit of "click bate". What this entails is the spread of tailored false information in order to get consumers to click and consume information that is inaccurate or untrue. All radio & broadcast news organizations are beholden to laws that are set by the FCC. Online news sources that are shared on Facebook receive millions of views and revieve the same attention as does broadcast news, should these organizations not be held to the same standard of laws?
The FCC states that "rigging or slanting the news is a most heinous act against the public interest." Some are stating that it is fake news reporting that had an impact on the 2016 presidential election. Shouldn't we all be held to the same laws on and offline?
