Currently, under the Bankruptcy Code, Student Loans are protected from discharge.
As student loans in this country have climbed over $1 Trillion dollars, many citizens are burdened with large debts and little prospects of being able to afford their student debt.
By allowing distressed debtors to discharge their student loans under the bankruptcy code, these citizens will be free from this large burden of debt that has obviously not helped them achieve gainful employment.
Doing so might allow these individuals to purchase a home, or a car, or make other purchases that will in turn fuel the economy.
