The average member of Congress earns over $100,000 per year. The average American earning minimum wage makes less than $16,000 per year. Congress refuses to address issues plaguing our American citizens regarding minimum wage, unemployment benefit extensions, etc.
I believe if members of Congress really saw how far minimum wage goes when taking care of a family, they would be forced to address Americans' biggest problem. If they didn't take action, it would prove to the American people these people elected to office to represent the American public were not doing the jobs.
