Drinking and Driving is a nationwide problem. It has harmed and sometimes devastated communities, as drunk people use their cars as silent weapons. Every 40 seconds, someone, somewhere in America is hurt or killed by a drunk driver. One of my best friends lost her sister to drunk driving, devastating my community. I am so surprised that drunk drivers don't get lengthy sentences that should fit their crimes (like life in prison, if they kill someone). I think, we should create stricter anti-drinking and driving laws that enable the Federal Government to mandate lengthier prison sentences for drunk drivers who hurt or kill people, and law enforcement MUST post silver alerts on America's roads (in this case the license plate # of the car driven by the drunk driver), to protect the people.
