make autism and autism therapy an essential health benefit in the Affordable Care Act

Created by F.M. on May 15, 2014

Autism is a national problem affecting 1 in 68 children, threatening the very future of our country. If we do not address the problem aggressively today to make these 1 in every 68 kids as high functioning and independent as possible, these individuals will grow up to become adults who will be dependent on society and government for everyday needs.
In many cases, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy can teach kids with autism to function independently and grow up to be productive members of society. This therapy is not covered in the ACA. State governments are trying to fill the gaps in ACA coverage for this year and 2015, but many families are under significant and in some cases, crippling financial hardship. Please make autism an essential health benefit in 2016.
