Auto insurance in my State (Florida) is outrageously expensive. For my basic policy of minimum coverage on my 1997 VW Passat Diesel I pay $175.00 per MONTH. I am 18 and this is a greater amount than I can afford, I have no accidents or tickets on my driving record. Motorcycle insurance on the other hand, which is not mandatory I can get for $550.00 per YEAR. Full coverage with high liability and personal injury coverage. I would like to see a state sponsored competitor to the insurance companies like we have for home insurance in Florida ( Citizens property insurance) to cover high risk policies at an affordable rate.
