On 03/23/13, a man in Central PA went to "pick up" his son with a loaded gun with the intent to kill his child and estranged wife. That man shot his child and wife. The little boy died. The man's wife had taken a PFA against him. This man was on medication for unstable mental reasons. So let me reiterate, this man was allowed to own a firearm while having a PFA against him and while being on medication for a mental condition. In Pa, a PFA recipient does not have to relinquish their firearms unless ordered to by a judge. Please make background checks mandatory, make mental health checks a requirement, and make it illegal for a person with a court ordered PFA against them to own a firearm. This was the story of one child. Imagine how many other children could be saved if action was taken.
