My mother has been diagnosed with several mental disorders. I have cared for her for four years. She was admitted twice last year and diagnosed by doctors. I asked them what steps I could take to care for her and protect my family from anything she may do and they said we could let them put her in a homeless shelter or take care of her myself. I obviously chose to bring her home. This current protocol for mental illnesses leaves dangerous and sick people untreated and on the streets. We need legislation to have specific programs and facilities to help them.
