It is time for the United States to catch up with other world powers and build a high speed train on par with those in France, Japan and Spain. This high speed transit system will provides a feasible transportation alternative to driving or flying stimulating job growth in science, engineering, construction, transportation and food service industries, at a minimum. It will provide immediate jobs now and will create hundreds of thousands of future job opportunities as the trains will need to be engineered and improved, tracks built and maintained, and on board services provided. Because this will provide these benefits to all states that the railroad passes through, those states that refuse to support or actively prevent the train's development should lose all federal funding for transit.
