All public school buses that transport elementary, middle and high school students should be required to have a bus aide or assistant. My son is in 4th grade, and the things I hear him relate to me that he has experienced on his school bus are atrocious. What makes this even more disheartening are the kindergarteners that are exposed to such language and vulgarity. I'm having conversations with my son that I did not anticipate having at this early age.
Also the children are not safe as they are not being made to stay in their seats. All it will take is one quick stop and a child could be seriously injured.
If there were aides on buses then maybe they could control the children while the bus driver did his/her job of driving the bus.
