Marine mammals, including whales and dolphins, are highly sociable and intelligent creatures who do not belong in captivity. At marine parks around the country, these animals are forced to perform for human entertainment while sustaining major injuries and psychological damage due to the conditions they are subjected to. In the wild, they swim hundreds of miles a day, while in captivity, they are confined to a tank equivalent to a bathtub for their size. Research from the past 20+ years proves that captive marine mammals are in a significantly worse state mentally and physically compared to those in the wild. Not only are the animals in danger, but so are the trainers. The captivity of marine mammals can be considered slavery, and this outdated and cruel practice should be outlawed.
