All over the U.S. internet users are charged high prices for poor quality internet. With little networks available the major companies are able to monopolize networks.
The smaller companies don’t have the money to lay down their own networks to start their internet services. The little providers there are in the U.S. show a difference in prices compared to other nations.
For example Seoul, Korea offers 1000 Mbps download and upload for $31.47 a month. Whereas, New York offers 500 Mbps Download, 100 Mbps Upload for $299.99 a month. Two cities with similar populations.
If the government can lay down a national fiber optic network, this would give the small companies a chance to compete against the bigger companies. It would bring down expenses for existing companies and regulate prices.
