Cruising between US ports is impossible with the current arcane laws enforce. Changes need to be made to the so called Jones Act to make transportation between two US ports easier. The ship building concerns of the past are not part of the current equation for the modern cruise industry.
Many US ports would see a large influx of economic activity, if the Jones Act were modified to allow transport between US Ports without the current distant port requirement.
Ship building in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco would return when more US ports were opened to traffic.
