Cheerleading still isn't an official sport. While just like any other sport, cheerleaders have coaches, practices, and competitions. The main reason why cheerleading still isn't an official sport is because cheerleaders don't have face to face competition, where one team scores more points than the other, for example volleyball, or basketball. But cheerleading is a very active sport, in fact the number of cheerleaders injured each year has climbed dramatically in the last two decades. If we make cheerleading an official sport, we can improve the safety rules to decrease injuries.
Personally, I am a cheerleader, and I believe that cheerleaders should be recognized for their hard work.
